2009 SEASON IN REVIEW

The 2009 season brought many successes and lots of memories. Our youngest hunter was 12-year-old Hunter Brumelow from Georgia who shot an antelope off the Montana prairie. Our senior hunter was once again 84-year-old Peter Galli from Oregon who missed an elk, but did take home a Montana whitetail. Overall 20 elk hunters killed 15 elk and 21 deer hunters took 12 whitetail and 2 mule deer.

As usual most of our hunters were returning guests/friends. Only 5 of the 21 hunters were here for the first time and only 1 of the 5 was not part of a returning group. Many have hunted with us for over 10 years; some close to 20 and Ed has made it every year but one since 1980!

The first 2-weeks of the season were fairly warm and dry with no snow. The 3rd week we received almost a foot of snow, which is a lot of snow for this country. The snow and cooler weather persisted throughout the 3rd and warmed up a little for the 4th hunt. The elk hunting held steady and the deer hunting improved as the season progressed and the bucks started to rut. The longest shot goes to Mike Wright from California, a legitimate 500-yard shot and the closest was Don Desanti from New Jersey at 70 yards.

All in all the 2009 season was not only successful but a good time was had by all and we look forward many returning next year.
