Our guided goat hunts are in the southern end of
the Madison Mountains in Hunting Districts 326, 327, and 328. These districts
are all in the high peaks of the Lee Metcalf Wilderness in southwest Montana.
The area is spectacular with an excellent mountain goat population.
The prospects of taking a 9" billie are
excellent; in 1988 one of our hunters took the world record mountain goat in
SCI handgun record book. Once you draw the permit, the chances of being
successful in harvesting a mountain goat is better than 95%. However, the
ruggedness of the country makes this a physically demanding hunt, and the
better shape you're in, the better your chances will be. We want this to be an
enjoyable time too! Late September through mid-October is the best time frame
for this hunt.
